北海道に自生する野生植物遺伝資源の探索と評価、品種改良に関する研究を行っています。
ハスカップや野生のキウイフルーツ（サルナシ）、キイチゴ、ラズベリー、リンゴなどを対象に、種間交雑や倍数性育種などを進めています。植物の生殖に関する諸問題を解決し、育種に役立てるための研究を行っています。花粉が発芽しどのように伸びるかを、人工培地を使って解析しています。
We research the exploration and evaluation of wild plant genetic resources native to Hokkaido and on plant breeding. Our focus includes horticultural plants like Haskap (Lonicera), Hardy kiwi (Actinidia), Raspberries, and Apples through interspecific hybridization and polyploidization. To solve various reproductive issues in plants and to apply these findings to breeding, we are studying how pollen germinates and pollen tube grows using artificial media.

野生遺伝資源の探索を行うフィールドワーク、胚珠培養や胚乳培養、花粉管伸長の観察や野生遺伝資源の系統解析などの研究室内で進める研究テーマがあります。 研究テーマや対象植物は、相談しながら興味に沿って選んでいま す。
Our research themes include fieldwork for exploring wild genetic resources, ovule culture, endosperm culture, pollen tube growth observation, and phylogenetic analysis of wild genetic resources conducted within the laboratory. Research topics and target plants are selected in consultation with individual interests.
